At this time of year, in this part of the country, white-tailed deer are an increasingly common topic of conversation. Flip a coin to pick which one is discussed more: the havoc mating season creates on the highways or the excitement created among hunters building-up to hunting season. The perfect storm scenario is for a deer to run in [...]

Just like the sign says, there will be no signs of me for awhile. Annual Conference, combined with time off for good behavior equals “No Signs” or “sign-ons” for at least 10 days–maybe longer. See ya when I see ya.

Just like the TV channel says, characters are everywhere. Even if one is working, sometimes it is necessary to take one for the team:
Commentary about the pros and cons of fast food is not the aim today. Catching sight of this young guy from 1/2 block away, it was just too funny to ignore him. [...]

How does one express ones disappointment in a tactful, yet, “don’t mess with me way?” Several months ago, a friendly and true gentleman, who saw me snapping a picture of his bumper sticker, gave me an extra one he had in his van. See: http://coco724.wordpress.com/2008/10/22/bumper-snickers/.
Not being someone who actually puts bumper stickers on my car, his thoughtful gesture sat on [...]

If any of you have read my blog enough, you might have noticed that I like to play with words. Puns are a particular favorite of mine.
This roadside sighting combined with the fact that the pun deserves a special mention makes for a very good “sign,” don’t you think?

The rather large bearded man who saw me taking an interest in his truck bumper softened considerably when I pointed out that I was using my cell phone to take the picture! He insisted that he can spot the driver on a cell phone from half a mile away. Since he has such good eyesight, and was also sporting [...]

Is this the coolest bike rack you have ever seen, or what? I love it. It is whimsical and utilitarian, the perfect integration of form and function. Looks like a racer participating in the Tour de France. Is that Lance Armstrong coming down the block…?

Interesting…. Fascinating…. Unique…. Imagining life as an Art Critic, writing interesting, fascinating and unique reviews, words sometimes are superfluous. Someone here has obviously spent many hours lovingly creating an outstanding piece of folk art. Some installations are designed to blend into the environment, one with nature, quietly leading one into enjoyment of the piece. Some are [...]

Yesterday, my travels took me on a 228-mile round trip journey for a special job related project. The destination was in and through the mountains to the east–the majority of which skirted the topmost ridges. What a view! Riding the highest peak for at least a 25 mile stretch offered clear lines of sight that stretched north and south.
My [...]
